15 September 2026 | MyProtection News Jakarta

Activating BPJS Kesehatan is actually not difficult and only requires a few simple steps. This process is crucial because BPJS Kesehatan functions to provide health insurance coverage for the people of Indonesia.

According to the BPJS Kesehatan website, based on the Health Social Security Program Management Report as of November 30, 2024, there were 277,859,856 JKN (National Health Insurance) participants registered.

BPJS Kesehatan has become a solution for many Indonesians, as it provides healthcare services that cover not only physical health but also mental health.

The JKN-KIS program, according to Muttaqien, an expert member of the National Social Security Council (DJSN), represents the government’s presence in providing protection and security for its citizens.

For MyProtection friends who wish to reactivate their BPJS Kesehatan membership, please read the complete explanation of the step-by-step process below.

4 Camshaft Functions You Need to Know in Cars!

The presence of a camshaft in a car allows the engine to control the timing of the intake and exhaust valves, which regulate the entry of air and fuel as well as the release of exhaust gases. This process significantly improves both performance and efficiency.

However, many people are still unfamiliar with the functions of this crucial engine component.

In this article, we will discuss some of the most important camshaft functions that you may not know about. Let’s dive in!

4 Camshaft Functions You Need to Know in Cars!

The camshaft in a car is one of the key components in the combustion process and helps maintain engine efficiency. So, what are the main functions of a camshaft in a car? Here’s the explanation!

1. Opening and Closing Valves According to the Firing Order

The first function of the camshaft is to open and close the valves in accordance with the firing order.

On the camshaft, the part responsible for this process is called the cam lobe, which comes in two shapes, which is a round section that closes the valve and an elongated section that presses the valve open.

2. Rotating the Distributor Shaft

Another function of the camshaft is to rotate the distributor's shaft, depending on the type of engine used. This is usually located in the ignition system.

As the camshaft rotates, it sends signals to the distributor's shaft, causing it to rotate and perform its function accordingly.

3. Driving the Fuel Pump

In addition to controlling the valves, the camshaft also serves to drive the fuel pump in certain vehicles.

This function specifically applies to cars that still use mechanical fuel pumps. In older engine systems, the mechanical fuel pump relies on the camshaft’s motion to deliver fuel to the carburetor.

This mechanism ensures a steady fuel supply so that the engine can run properly.

However, with advancements in automotive technology, this system has largely been replaced. Most modern cars now use electric fuel pumps powered by electricity, eliminating the need for direct camshaft operation.

Electric fuel pumps are considered more efficient, practical, and better suited for modern fuel injection systems.

Therefore, the camshaft’s role as a driver for mechanical fuel pumps is mostly relevant to older vehicles, while modern systems rely on electric pumps.

4. Sensor Point for Rotation Detection

The final function of the camshaft is to serve as a sensor point to detect its rotations.

This role allows the camshaft to accurately determine rotation angles, ensuring smooth operation without causing defects or damage to other engine components.

With this function, engine performance becomes more precise, as each movement is detected with accuracy.

However, not every car engine uses this feature. This function is typically found in engines with EFI or Electronic Fuel Injection technology.

In EFI engines, the camshaft is specially designed with a reference gear that integrates with a blade sensor.

This design enables the camshaft to work with the sensor to automatically determine its position and rotation angle.

The mechanism is simple yet highly effective. The engine’s gears help the camshaft detect each rotation angle precisely. As the camshaft turns, the sensor reads the gear movement and ensures accurate rotational data.

This information is then used by the EFI system to regulate fuel injection and ignition timing.

As a result, the camshaft sensor function not only ensures precise rotation but also enhances overall engine efficiency and performance.

5 Steps to Jump-Start a Car Battery Easily and Safely!

A car battery serves as the power source to start the vehicle. If your car's battery dies, one of the steps you can take is to jump-start it.

Generally, the correct way to jump-start a car involves connecting the dead battery to another car battery. However, this process must be done properly. Here’s how:

5 Steps to Jump-Start a Car Battery Easily and Safely!

cara jumper aki mobil

1. Prepare the Necessary Jumper Tools

The first step in jump-starting a car battery is to prepare all the tools you need, such as jumper cables and a donor battery.

The donor battery should come from another car that is in good condition, with a healthy voltage level. Ideally, use a battery from a similar type of car to ensure voltage compatibility.

Jumper cables are used to connect the two car batteries and transfer electric current from the healthy battery to the dead one.

2. Position the Vehicle Properly

The next step is to position the vehicles properly. The two cars should be parked close enough for the jumper cables to reach both batteries.

Ensure both cars are turned off. For manual transmission of cars, make sure to turn the shift into neutral. Whereas for automatic cars, shift into park or P.

Engage the parking brakes on both vehicles to prevent any movement during the jump-start process.

Also, make sure all electrical systems are turned off by removing the keys from the ignition.

Once confirmed, open both car hoods and position the batteries close enough to make the jump-start easier.

3. Connect the Jumper Cables

Now connect the two batteries using the jumper cables. These cables typically come with clamps on both ends, red for positive and black for negative.

To do it properly, it’s important to connect them correctly:

  • Attach the red or positive clamp to the positive terminal of the dead battery.

  • Attach the other red clamp to the positive terminal of the donor battery.

  • Attach the black or negative clamp to an unpainted metal surface on the car with the dead battery, preferably on the engine block or car frame, not directly on the battery.

4. Start the Engines

After the cables are connected properly, start the donor's car first, then try starting the car with the dead battery.

Let both cars run for a few minutes so that the electrical current can charge the dead battery. If the alternator is still functional, it should begin recharging the battery right away.

5. Disconnect the Jumper Cables

Once the dead car starts and is running smoothly, carefully disconnect the jumper cables in reverse order, which is:

  • Remove the black or negative clamp from the previously dead battery.

  • Remove the black clamp from the donor battery.

  • Remove the red or positive clamp from the previously dead battery.

  • Lastly, remove the red clamp from the donor battery.

After the jump-start process, double-check to see if the previously dead battery is now functioning properly.

Remember, failing to perform the process correctly may lead to serious risks such as electrical short circuits, battery explosions, or permanent battery damage.

Therefore, even if you understand how to jump-start a car battery, it’s always safer to let a professional or auto shop handle it. Hope this helps!
