Dilansir dari CNN, Ikatan Dokter Indonesia atau IDI meminta masyarakat tak perlu panik berlebihan akibat wabah Corona baru atau SARS Cov-19. IDI menyatakan bahwa kemungkinan pasien penderita corona untuk sembuh bisa mencapai angka 97%. Sehingga, masyarakat diimbau untuk tetap waspada namun tak perlu sampai menimbun masker atau sembako.
Dokter Erlina Burhan dari IDI juga berpendapat bahwa penyakit akibat virus corona berbeda dengan virus flu burung yang memakan banyak korban jiwa. Pun selain virus corona, ada penyakit lain yang memiliki tingkat fatalitas lebih besar dan perlu diberikan perhatian juga.
WHO menunjukkan data tingkat kematian akibat corona kini berada di titik 3,4 persen. Sedangkan dari 95.784 kasus corona, 56% di antaranya atau lebih dari setengah total pengidap virus corona dinyatakan sembuh.
Dokter Erlina menambahkan bahwa virus corona ada self-limiting disease, artinya virus bisa mati dengan sendirinya selama imun tubuh bekerja dengan maksimal. Oleh karena itu, walaupun belum ditemukan obat atau antivirus untuk mengatasi corona, pasien positif corona akan diberikan perawatan terapi simtomatik dan suportif untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tubuhnya. Pengidap virus corona yang telah sembuh pun tidak bisa menularkan virus lagi kepada orang yang sehat.
Maka dari itu, penting bagi masyarakat untuk menjaga kebersihan dan kesehatan tubuh.
